Oct 02, 2009 – ‘Business Lifebelt’ an initiative developed in partnership by the City Council, the Brighton & Hove Chamber of Commerce and Business Link Sussex won the ‘Contribution to Local Economy’ award for it’s series of events designed to offer targeted support to businesses in the city during recession.
The events were funded by the Council and delivered by the Chamber of Commerce who commissioned Fay MacDonald of Diosa Media Ltd to help develop and co-ordinate them.
Fay and the Chamber worked with Business Link Sussex and several other business support partners and local organisations to design and deliver thirteen workshops, seminars and interactive sessions to several industry sectors, each offering practical advice from a range of experts.
The sectors included: Retail, Hospitality, Construction, Business Services and the Creative Industries and the topics included Sales and Marketing, Customer Service, Diversification, Communication and Social Media, Publicity and Promotions, Tendering, Fundraising and how to be innovative in business.
Fay MacDonald commented:
"Working on Business Lifebelt was a great opportunity to offer direct help to local businesses and the local economy during tough times. The initiative has continued to evolve and develop in order to reach out and offer support to a diverse range of sectors in the city. I am delighted that Diosa Media was given this opportunity by the Chamber of Commerce and the Council and feel very proud to have been part of this project."
Brighton & Hove Chamber of Commerce President, Julie Stanford, said:

We have one final event in October but are working with Brighton & Hove City Council on providing some further support for next year.
