As a result of not being able to illicit any communications for constituents through FivewaysOnline.com from the current MP, Caroline Lucas, and because we believe Parliamentary representatives have a duty to communicate with their constituents, for those interested to know what our MP's are doing on our behalf in Parliament here is a link to Simon Kirby MP's column on KemptownOnline.net instead. We remain impartial on the Political Parties and hope that Fiveways elects a more professional and suitable MP next time around. To date, April 2012, we have not had any notice or updates on Carolines Surgeries since 2010. People in the community we speak to have been very dissapointed as there were high hopes when the last round of MP's were elected. Being the UK's first Green MP was a historical moment that hasn't lived up to the hype, or very ordinary expectations of professionalism. Oh well......Next! :-)
Update March 2011. So far, Caroline Lucas' office has not been able to provide any updates to date for the past 8 months of her activities or what she is working on, on behalf of us, her Consituents, despite repeated requests having previously agreed to do so. Nor has her Office been able to provide dates of any Surgeries in 2011 at all. Aparently there are drop in Surgeries on a weekly basis that we were not made aware of and we are still waiting to hear of work she is conducting on behalf of residents since opening this page. It was hoped that Caroline would recognise the opportunity given to her here to keep residents updated on both National and Local matters she worked on but that simply has not been the case.
The Cities two other MP's have contributed monthly newsletters for our other sites and have been professional throughout, which we thank them for.
To say the least it has become both frustrating and disapointing that comunication is so poor. The Parties may change but politicians in this fine quarter of Brighton seem determined to be tarred with the same brush, even when welcomed with open arms and sought to communicate with there constituents.
We are aware that Constituents have had difficulties contacting Caroline's office and have come to us instead seeking contact information. The only contact details we have are those published on this page.
Please use the Contact details above to try and Contact Caroline Lucas MP if you so wish or need to do so. Good luck!
Caroline Lucas MP is MP for the Fiveways area in Brighton, her constituency being known as Brighton Pavillion. Caroline is the UK's first Green Member of Parliament in history and stands apart from the herd in Parliament representing views that many locals hold. In particular Caroline was very vocal in her condemnation of the decision to place the Waste Transfer Station in Hollingdean next to a popular and highly succesful infant school, so she is a breath of fresh air compared to those locally that decided, completely against the wishes of local people in Fiveways, to make such an absurd and dangerous decision. The contractor has an appaling record on safety and the community continue to look on in horror at what the decision makers have done.
Nationally, Caroline is the Leader of the Green Party in the UK and holds constituencies locally and is available to meet with locals with personal and wider concerns about issues in the Community.
Caroline holds weekly advice surgeries. To book an appointment and check availability and venues, please contact the constituency office on 01273 201130, or email brightonoffice@parliament.uk
Carolines next Surgery dates in 2010 are as follows:
19th November - Starts at 5.30 pm
25th November - Starts at 7.30 pm
4th December - 'Street surgery' 10.00-11.30
16th December – Starts at 7.00 pm
We hope that Caroline will be updatng us all with regular Newsletters and features of her work to keep the Community posted on the view from Westminster and that locals will check in here regularly for news and information. We are delighted that Caroline will be writing here for us. Whilst we share some of Carolines views the piece is intended to be non-partisan. We also have the Conservative MP Simon Kirby writing for us at our KemptownOnline site here http://www.KempTownOnline.net in the interests of connecting people with their MP and keeping communities in the communication loop, and not to promote any one set of political views or oppinions.
